Programme 2008/9

Anyone who looked at last year’s programme will notice some considerable similarities. This is not entirely due to nothing having been done, but it is true to say that several of the major items have been delayed.
I am hoping now, after several years of focus on Africa and oil revenue transparency followed by a long period of mental exhaustion, to be able to return to work on anti-corruption in Europe - and especially Central & Eastern Europe as well as addressing some pressing concerns about public integrity in my own country, the United Kingdom. One important component of this “return” should be the Faith & Work Project, especially following the closure of my Maine Consulting Services business.
At present I anticipate the following being the most significant strands of work during this year and next:
- Development of study/training modules building on an enhanced version of the “Seven (now eight) Principles” of Christian business integrity, and with ” The Interests of Others” (Phillipians 2:4) as a foundation.
- Development of a new edition of the widely used “Pavel’s PrintShop” case studies which were designed initially in collaboration with Central & Eastern European Christians during the early post-communist transition. They have also been found useful by many in the West and a new edition has often been requested.
- Completion of work in progress on my next book, Business and the Interests of Others.
- Investigation into possible future work on anti-corruption support to Christian professionals and politicians in Central & Eastern Europe building on past work, where (and only where) people in specific countries wish for such external assistance.
- Participation in the leadership and teaching of Christian student events in Central Europe.
- Contribution to the continuation and development of Faith in Business (formerly known as the Ridley Hall Foundation) in Cambridge.
- Speaking engagements in the United Kingdom with churches and Christian organizations as and when invited, plus a limited number of similar overseas engagements

As with all Christian work this programme needs prayer and divinely given strength and wisdom as well as physical and intellectual stamina.
