8 Principles for Working Life

The development of this model and guide for thought dates back to 1994 in Eastern Europe when, in collaboration with C.A.R.E. of London and Integra of Bratislava, I was involved in the organisation of a consultation on the challenges to doing business as a Christian in the recently post-communist states with their increasingly corrupt economic environments. In the years that followed the model was refined and has been found both helpful and challenging by people in many parts of the world.

8 Principles of faith and work

What were initially seven principles emerged from a week-long discussion process and subsequent analysis of the records of those discussions. Biblical studies and the recounting of practical experience were brought together.

Forthcoming book: The stages of further development, along with detailed exposition of each of the principles as they now stand, will be described in some detail in the forthcoming book, Business in the Interests of Others.

Printout: Why not print out this page and think about each of the eight principles, asking yourself how each of these words might relate to your own daily work, whatever type of work it might be.

Slide Presentation: Click on boxes in the diagram above to see slides from an outline presentation which I often use to introduce the eight principles.
